Her All Inclusive Vacation Packing List

I am a textbook over packer, but I have learned after a few all inclusive vacations that you don’t need an outfit for every single day or 6 pairs of shoes!  An all inclusive vacation is the right time to test out those minimalist skills.  It is important to remember that especially if you are staying at the resort that during the day you will most likely be in your swimsuit, but you don’t need a swimsuit everyday of the week. For me I need at least three swimsuits and two or three coverups.  Cover ups are important as if you are going to eat lunch at one of the buffets you will need something over your swimsuit.

On travel days wear your bulkiest clothes such as a pair of comfortable tennis shoes because those take up more space and can be heavier than a pair of sandals.  If you’re bringing a sweater or a jean jacket because you get cold easily then wear that on travel day as well, layers are good.

Tip: Start choosing clothes 2-3 weeks before you trip, hang them up in your closet and take time thinking about them and making sure you can mix and match.

Keep things neutral or at least be able to easily mix and match your clothes to create different outfits.  A tropical vacation is a great time to wear those cute dresses in your closet!  When it comes to shoes it is important to make sure you can wear them with as many things as possible, I now bring my tennis shoes and 2 pairs of sandals.  Comfort is very important not only in your choice of footwear (check this post out), but clothing as well.

Fold your clothes

Tip: Roll your clothes in order to save space and keep things organized.

Toiletries and that type of thing is almost worse than packing clothes for me.  I used to bring a curling iron, straightener, almost all of my makeup, but after years of finding out how little I use certain things I have wised up.  I will be honest I did take my straightener when we went to Dominican Republic this February and I used it once.  It’s not to say I won’t ever pack it again, but I will really think about it.  Makeup is something I am really glad I keep simple.  For makeup I bring mineral foundation, mascara and lip gloss.  Simple simple simple, that is my moto now!  I have found that while staying at an Iberostar resort I won’t even bother bringing shampoo as I know I like theirs and they have it in a dispenser in the shower.

I want to share with you my packing list for what I pack for a 9 day, 8 night all inclusive tropical vacation.

These lists have been worked on for over the last 3 years and have been refined. There is a point where you can’t actually pack any less. Stay tuned for my next post on how my husband packs for an all inclusive vacation.
