7 Tips on How to Survive Quarantine

All Inclusive Resort Tips Coronavirus Surviving Quarantine

Here in Wisconsin we have had a Safer at Home order since about mid-March, so at this point I have gotten pretty used to my new life.  Being a homebody already I have had a little bit of an easier time with all of this; although trust me I miss my friends and family.  Knowing that many of us are still quarantined, isolated, safer at home or whatever you want to call it, I  thought I would share some tips on how I am surviving this time during the COVID-19 pandemic.

1 – Cleaning & Organizing

There are so many things around our house that have been neglected for one reason or another and I decided I need to take advantage of the time we have.  I cleaned up in the basement, put away the last of the Christmas/winter decorations back in late March.  I also worked on my travel display area which you can read about here.  I cleaned out a dresser that I had been meaning to for a long time and I still have a few projects like this to do like: my closet, pantry, clean out the kitchen cabinets and organize the closet in our dining room.  My suggestion is to make yourself a project list and just start getting things checked off.  It will give you a great sense of accomplishment.

2 – Exercise

I love working out, going to the gym was always an important part of my day.  Home workouts were a part of my routine as well, so when the gym closed I was able to easily switch to only at home workouts.  Exercise not only helps my physical health but my mental health as well.  I have also found it very important to take walks outside when the weather permits.  Yoga is another great option as it allows you to stretch, but also relax.  There are so many great videos out there!

3 – Video Chats

This has been a game changer!  Before a global pandemic I hardly used video chat because I could just  go and hang out with my friends and family.  Now I find myself using it a few times a week and how cool are virtual happy hours!  I know it doesn’t replace those in person happy hours, but it really helps connect you.  I have done two of those and I’m hooked!

4 – The Great Outdoors

Get outside, see the sun!  It’s important to get outside and get some fresh air.  Outdoor projects are great too like gardening!  It’s one of my husband’s favorite activities once it gets nice out.

5 – Coloring

I had forgotten how much fun and how therapeutic it can be.  A couple of Christmas’ ago my mom bought me a big adult coloring book and then I bought a big pack of colored pencils and they sat.  Spending time coloring now only fills some of my time, but it really makes me feel better and gives me a creative outlet.

6 – Binge Watch Shows & Movies

This one I really do love!  Finding new things for my husband and I to watch together is always a treat!

7 – Blogging

I’ll be honest I struggled with this in March especially as there was so much uncertainty.  There is still a lot of uncertainty with travel and how it will look in the future, but I decided I didn’t want to give up completely.  Unfortunately, my Pinterest account took a bit of a dive as I had neglected creating new pins and it’s going to take some time to build up the progress I had made.  I am taking time to think a little outside the box as well as look through the blog ideas I already had to see what might be worth posting during this time.  There might not be a lot of travel going on right now, but I know we will all get back to it someday and until then I’m going to keep pushing forward.

Tip: Do you have a kid in your life that you can’t see right now?  I haven’t seen my nephew since early March and I really do miss that kid.  I recently recorded a video of me reading him a story and he loved it!  My plan is to continue doing this, it’s something fun for both of us!
